Helping Carers Shine: How Capstone Strengthens Every Fostering Journey 

At Capstone Foster Care, we believe that the journey from childhood to adulthood is shaped not only by the experiences of the children and young people we support, but also by the people who support and care for them, our incredible foster carers. Their dedication, love, and resilience create the foundations that help children grow into confident, successful young adults. And because carers give so much of themselves, it’s our role to make sure they feel supported every step of the way. 

A Circle of Support Around Every Carer 

Fostering is one of the most rewarding roles a person can take on, but it also comes with challenges. That’s why we build a circle of support around every foster family. From day one, our foster carers have access to their own Supervising Social Worker, regular check-ins, training tailored to their needs, and a friendly team who are only ever a phone call away. Whether it’s practical advice or simply a listening ear, we’re there. 

We know that when carers feel confident and supported, they’re able to give children and young people the stability, care, and encouragement they need to thrive. And that’s what our latest campaign is all about, showing how each child and young person’s journey from childhood through to adulthood can be transformed by the right support network. 

Listening to Carers, Children, and the Whole Household 

Once a year, foster carers take part in an annual review with an Independent Reviewing Officer. This is a warm, reflective space where we gather feedback from everyone involved: carers, the children they foster, birth children, and other household members. We also listen to professionals such as local authorities, social workers, and schools. 

This review centers the voices of the people who matter most. It’s a chance for carers to share what’s going well, what could be improved, and what support they might need for the year ahead. It also ensures that the needs and experiences of the children and young people, as well as everyone in the home, are fully understood and respected. 

It’s one of the many ways we make sure our carers feel heard, valued, and equipped to continue offering the safe, nurturing environment that helps children and young people move confidently along their journey toward adulthood. 

Guiding Carers Through Key Milestones 

We regularly gather feedback that helps us improve the support we offer and share positive outcomes with regulators such as OFSTED. This acts as an extra layer of reassurance, ensuring carers have the right support in place and feel confident about the future. It’s all part of our commitment to transparency, quality, and continuous improvement, because our carers deserve nothing less.

Every training session we deliver, every review we hold, every late-evening phone call we answer, all of it feeds into the same mission: giving children and young people the stable foundation they need to grow into independent, empowered adults.
