Capstone Foster Care have been building brighter futures for children by supporting foster carers for over 10 years.
We have over 100 foster carers in the South West and together with our expert team of staff, we have been rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted. This is a great achievement by our staff and carers and a testament to the marvellous work they do to change the lives of children and young people.
With over 6,000 children in care across the South West, we work with local authorities, spanning from Gloucestershire County Council and Dorset County Council to Devon County Council and Hampshire County Council, to place children with our foster carers and their families to provide a secure and stable home.
As a member of the Capstone Foster Care family, our foster carers are provided with expert advice and guidance as well as training and support, 24/7 365 days.
Being part of the family means you automatically become part of our support groups because we know how important it is for our foster carers to get together and for our children and young people to feel part of the Capstone family. As one big happy family, we even have time to visit the local park, go trampolining and take the dogs for a walk.
“Managers, the staff and foster carers have high aspirations for the children and young people in their care. A strength of the agency is the child-focused approach that the agency ensures is the driving force behind any decisions and changes.”
“We were impressed from the very start with the initial phone call. We could tell that they didn’t just take on anyone. Karen came and met us, and she was great. She was very thorough and was able to answer all of our questions and asked us a lot of questions too.”
“The training and support we’ve had from Capstone to get to this point has been amazing. There’s always someone there for us and advocating for us which has been invaluable.”
“We’ve been supported by Capstone during our journey and we can’t fault the measures taken to make sure we have all that we need, not only for us but for also the children we have cared for.”
“Capstone Foster Care is a provider of finding foster homes for children, sometimes with complex needs. To me, this is what makes Capstone unique as a fostering agency.”
I have worked within the fostering sector for over 31 years in the UK as well as internationally in America and Canada since qualifying as a social worker in 1994. I’m passionate about fostering and building brighter futures for vulnerable children.
As the Area Director I am extremely proud to have a fantastic group of foster carers and staff that work tirelessly to ensure that the children and young people placed with us have a positive experience and are able to live fulfilling lives, while ensuring we have fun along the way.
Our aim is to provide a high level, quality service and our teams work in partnership with all those involved in the lives of the children to enable the best possible outcome for them.
Outside of work, I enjoy leisure activities, travelling and spending time with my family.
I have been involved in fostering for over 35 years. Having been a foster carer for over 7 years and supporting my parents to foster it felt natural for me to undertake social work in the field of fostering and have worked in the independent fostering sector for over 20 years.
I joined Capstone over 10 years ago and have consistently enjoyed the commitment and passion of the teams that I work with. We strive to ensure that our foster carers are supported, respected and enabled to provide the best standard of care to the children and young people we look after.
Working alongside the team, I cover referrals for the South West, from Gloucestershire and Devon to Hampshire and Somerset and everywhere in between! My role is to find our carers, a placement – sounds simple, but matching is everything and I endeavour to find the best possible match for our foster carers and of course the children and young people referred to us. Every day I’m inspired and motivated to find caring, nurturing homes for each young person. It’s highly rewarding, making decisions which can lead to children having positive outcomes.
Outside work I enjoy spending time with friends and family. I have 2 boys and together we like to travel, socialise, and generally have fun.
Hi, I’m Leona and I joined Capstone in August 2020. My role as a Recruitment Fostering Advisor, across the South West, is to talk with prospective foster carers about themselves, our agency and the role of a foster carer, so I can make a recommendation on their suitability to foster. Once this has been established I then maintain contact with applicants throughout the assessment stage, helping to support the beginning of their fostering journey, until hopefully they are approved and able to start supporting vulnerable children and young people.
I myself have 3 children and between family and work, when I do get the opportunity, I'm seeing family, friends and catching up with Netflix!
