Each year, on 20th November, the world comes together to celebrate Universal Children’s Day; a day dedicated to promoting the welfare and happiness of children around the world. It’s a time to reflect on the incredible potential that lies within every child, and to remind ourselves that every young person deserves to feel safe, valued, and loved.

Why Universal Children’s Day Matters 

Universal Children’s Day was established by the United Nations to promote children’s rights and encourage nations to work together to improve the wellbeing of children. Whilst so much progress has been made, there are still so many children and young people who need a helping hand, who need someone to believe in them, listen to them, and give them a stable place to call home. 

In the UK alone, tens of thousands of children and young people are currently waiting for foster families. Behind every number is a story, a child or young person with dreams, fears, and endless potential, just waiting for the right person or family to help them thrive and reach their potential.
