Meet Michelle and Mark

Michelle and Mark became foster carers over 5 years ago and have supported a young person all the way through to independence.

Michelle and Mark

Michelle and Mark have lots of experience in supporting youngsters and it seems they are naturals at fostering.

Michelle has worked as a project worker in a hostel for homeless 16 and 17 year olds. Mark is a manager of a small care home for adults with learning difficulties.
Michelle and Mark are from Leicester and have been fostering for several years. They have three children and two dogs.

Fostering provides the pair with new challenges which they enjoy overcoming. Using a balance of professional expertise, their own parenting experience and their own team-work attitude to fostering they have enabled young people to thrive. They both have experience and awareness of the needs of vulnerable and disadvantaged children and are able to understand and help children to develop with support.

One youngster, Tammy, who they have fostered has now become part of the household permanently and has changed her surname to match the family name. They are supporting her at 18+ to complete a college course up until independence, and thereafter – where she’ll always be part of the family. There is a short video, that Tammy dedicated to Mark, on Father’s Day which demonstrates how she feels about her fostering family.
