Giane and Graham were apprehensive at first but found the support and guidance they needed to become approved as foster carers at Panel.
First of all we would like to thank you for all the support, professionalism, and care provided throughout our assessment. It definitely made it easier and gave us more confidence to go through panel.
Of course, like most potential foster carers, we were apprehensive about going through it and about saying the right things. On the day, we were picked up by Lisa, the student social worker for Capstone who was with us throughout, and we also got a call from Anne-Marie her supervising Social Worker, as well as from Carole, the Capstone manager, wishing us good luck with Panel.
Once there, we were very much welcomed and reassured by everyone at Capstone, which gave us more confidence. Panel members as well as the head of the panel, were friendly, professional, and asked pertinent questions. We did not feel intimidated and it was easy to talk to them. We felt we were on the same side.
We then had to wait until panel discussed our suitability. They had also previously talked to Lisa to clear up any doubts relating to us as future foster carers for Capstone. We were then invited to join them again and were informed we had passed the Panel. They gave us a very warm welcome and the atmosphere was really happy and pleasant. We then went through induction and left feeling very hopeful.
We must say that it has been so far a wonderful experience for both of us, and that Panel, Capstone and all the training, guidance and support could have not been better.
Once again, thank you all, the Panel and all at Capstone.
