Make a difference day: O's birthday poem

As part of ‘Make a difference day’, we are sharing a collection of stories and poems from our carers and young people.

One of our Foster Carers in the South West shared a lovely poem written by the young person she is caring for, it made a really big difference to her when she received on her birthday. You can read the poem written by O below:

Nearly your Birthday!

Some days are happy,

Some days are sad,

Some days are snappy,

Some people get mad!

But you make me happy, 

You help me when I'm sad,

We both may get snappy,

But we never get mad!

Let's forget about the bad emotions,

And focus on the good ones,

Because birthdays are big days,

And yours is a special one!

You're going to be 60!

A wonderful age,

Older than 50,

But still I'm amazed!

A fabulous mum,

You are and always will be,

You're like a bright star,

And you look after me!

This poem is ending,

I made it for you,

Thank you for being the best you can be,

Oh mum,

I love you!
