Eid Mubarak from Capstone Foster Care

9th April, 2024

From Capstone Foster Care, we hope that everyone has had a blessed Ramadan. After a powerful solidarity hour, where two of our Muslim colleagues, Adam and Sajida spoke with such knowledge and passion about this wonderful time of year we came away inspired, the joy in the way they talked was truly infectious. So much so, that we held our first companywide group fast, bringing us closer than ever to our Muslim colleagues.

Eid Mubarak

Recently, we caught up with Sajida, who is Children’s Champion for the South East and chatted more about the work she does with Muslim foster children during the Ramadan period. She told us,

“We’re just delighted to be entering our third year partnering with the Hussain Foundation for Ramadan.”

For those who haven’t heard of the Hussain Foundation, it was created in memory of Hussain, who was a hardworking and ambitious student. He was an astute entrepreneur and had started an online apparel business from his home.  Sadly, however, he tragically lost his life outside his home on 17th March 2021 – just 2 weeks before his 19th birthday, whilst bravely protecting his family, his property and himself from thieves carrying knives.

Hussain Foundation’s legacy share the same ethos as Capstone Foster Care of empowering the youth, providing life changing opportunities and support to young people.

We asked Sajida how the Hussain Foundation were working in partnership with the organisation to support Muslim children in foster care during Ramadan…

“Each Muslim young person in foster care with the South East has been given a nest consisting of a Quran (Islam's holy scripture), a prayer mat, a miswaak, a tasbih (prayer beads and an informative Hussain Foundation poster where they are able to gain more information on initiatives for the youth. These gifts will provide a lifelong spiritual companion to our Muslim Young People.”

The nests went down a treat with the children, their feedback is enough to warm any heart. One commented,

“Oh my, is this mine! I can’t believe it! This is a very special gift!”

Another said,

“May God bless Hussain & his family! & you all! This is such a beautiful gift! I will cherish forever!”

We’re all so proud to be making a difference to Muslim children and helping them to embrace their faith during this special time. Well done Sajida.
