One of our special young people, J, has donated her luscious long locks to the Little Princess Trust charity to allow them to make wigs for children who have lost their hair due to chemotherapy. As well as donating her hair, J has also raised an amazing £475 so far for the charity and is hoping to raise more awareness about the cause.
Marie, J’s foster carer, said: “J came home from school one day and told us that she wanted to have her hair cut to help children with cancer. She had learned about it at school and really wanted to do it herself.
“We researched more about the hair donation and came across the Little Princess Trust charity and found out more about how they make wigs for children who have lost their hair because of cancer.
“The best donation amount for wigs is around 16 inches but J wanted to donate more than that, so she did the ‘Let It Grow’ programme offered by the charity. This allowed J to grow as much hair as possible to allow her to donate a longer length which will make longer haired wigs.

“J knows that a lot of the wigs that are made are usually bob cut lengths, so she wanted to donate a long length to allow a child to feel like they have long hair again.
“J is a very caring person, and the thought of a child going through cancer and being without hair has really driven her to donate as much hair as she can.
“She’s always cared about other people and by her raising money for the Little Princess Trust charity and donating her hair has really proven to us how caring she is. She has already said to us that she can’t wait to donate some more hair!”
