Capstone North Rated Outstanding

15th March, 2023

We are absolutely delighted that Capstone Foster Care in the North region has maintained its Outstanding rating in its most recent Ofsted inspection.

Outstanding Fostering

The highly coveted Outstanding rating is a true testament to the ongoing hard work and dedication of staff, lead by director in the north, Debbie Tomlinson and Registered Manager, Bev Maymond.

The report said of Bev…

“The registered manager has a wealth of experience and knowledge. She is aspirational and inspirational in her leadership style and is held in exceptionally high regard by children, foster carers, staff and other professionals.”

The senior leadership there were found to have high expectations which resulted in outstanding outcomes for vulnerable children, in the areas surrounding Heywood, Bradford and Barnsley.

Indeed, one child spoken too by inspectors told them…

“They are just brilliant. Anything they can do to help, they just do. I don’t even know where to start. They have just been brilliant and help me in so many ways.”

This warms our hearts to hear. As well as the reports findings that our children feel listened to, and that our service has a ‘strong family feel.’

Supporting our foster carers to outstanding levels

The inspectors found that the agency has implemented robust processes to ensure that children live with foster carers who can meet their needs. That children are welcomed into their foster families and are enabled to develop a sense of belonging. Where possible, we also support children to live with their siblings and help children to stay with their carers post age eighteen. As a result of the impressive ‘stickability’ and resilience demonstrated by the agency’s foster carers, children’s placements rarely end in an unplanned way.

This all comes down to the support and training the team provide to our foster carers. With our one-of-a-kind MATTS provision, offering children specialist support at their point of need, to social workers on hand to provide 24/7 support to carers. Couple that with the ongoing hard work of our placements team, Sunjay and the Rachel’s, who work tirelessly to ensure that our children are matched with the right families.

One carer said, ‘They care about us and the children. You are never on your own.’
