Fostering in Hampshire
If you live in Hampshire, have been thinking about fostering for a while, and have at least one spare room available, why not give Capstone a call? We are always looking for carers in the Hampshire area. While there are different types of placements needed, we are particularly looking for people who can look after a parent and their child or a group of siblings.
We have a close-knit network of carers looked after by experienced supervising social workers who always have the best interests of the child at heart. We offer excellent carer training as well as training for birth children. We work therapeutically with children and have recently embarked on a project involving social pedagogy in fostering which has resulted in greater participation with fostered youngsters.
If you have no experience looking after youngsters, it doesn’t matter. We provide training and support that is expert, comprehensive and ongoing. You will become involved in our carer support group. Our allowances are generous. If you live in Hampshire, then our nearest office to you is in Ringwood where some carer training takes place and support groups meet. Other training and carer support groups take place in other convenient local venues.
The application process can take up to six months. This is a period when you get to know us, and we get to know you. A social worker will have several home visits with you and become familiar with your household and family dynamics. Fostering is a rewarding career. You could help a child reach their full potential and experience the satisfaction of making a difference in someone’s life.
Most children who are taken into care are at least 10 years old. As much as possible, we want to place children and young people in homes that allow them to be close to their familiar surroundings, their school, and their friends.
Capstone Foster Care is a well-established agency operating across most parts of England. We have over 140 staff supporting 600 carers and we were rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted in most of our recent inspections. We work hard to maintain the local, family feel of all our offices so that we can offer new members of our team the best of both worlds – the resources and expertise of a large agency as well as the personal family feel and local support that most carers really value.
We have a contract with the Hampshire County Council to provide foster care for young people that the local authority has taken into care. While the local authority has its own carers, they also need the services of independent fostering agencies such as Capstone to meet the need. There are never enough foster parents. Across the country, there is an ongoing shortage leaving about 9,000 youngsters waiting for a foster home.
Contact us on 0800 012 4004 or by using our online contact form. We will be able to answer many of your questions and give you further information about what being a foster carer involves.
