Fostering in Marlow
Foster carers are needed everywhere in the UK, including Marlow. Capstone has an arrangement with the local authority to provide foster homes to looked after children. This is the role of an independent fostering agency, and we at Capstone strive to have the best carers and the best training so that we can fulfill our mandate of building brighter futures for children in care.
We’re looking for caring individuals in the Marlow area to become foster carers. It doesn’t matter if you’ve not had kids before, or aren’t sure how your family life would be effected by taking on a foster care placement (or placements!) Capstone Foster Care will be with you every step of the way and we offer both basic and special training courses for all of our carers.
Among the special training we provide is training for looking after a parent and child placement. It used to be called mother and baby, but parent and child is more descriptive because it is not always with a mother and a baby where the support is needed. Sometimes, both parents are involved in learning how to best care for their child, who may not be a baby but a toddler.
This is a specialised type of fostering where your role is two-fold. Protecting the child’s wellbeing is part of the task and helping the parent or parents learn the basics of child care is the other part. Over and above both of these components, the foster parent helps assess whether the parent will be able to care for the infant or toddler on his or her (or their) own.

This is one of the more needed types of fostering. Another type is sibling groups. It’s been proven that it is usually best if siblings can stay together during their stay in foster care. This being the case, we are looking for people with more than one spare room as every looked after child is expected to have his or her own personal bedroom.
It is important to mention these two types of foster carers that we are eager to recruit for, as all too often there are myths and misinformation surrounding the children and young people who need you. For one thing, there are very few babies that need fostering, but a lot of older children. For another, it is not always possible to know when you will be needed or for how long.
What we can tell you now is that your caring home can help give a bright future to a young person in the Marlow area. The more homes we have in the area, the better we are able to help vulnerable youngsters grow into a brighter future.
There is also some information that is important to know about who we are looking to have join our team. You don’t have to be married or in a civil relationship. Single men and women are welcome members of our team. You can be gay or lesbian. Age is not a factor (apart from that you do need to be over 21).
