The Ringwood office has an ambitious, dynamic and high achieving team. It consists of Area Manager Carole, and 6 highly experienced supervising social workers – Trish, Anne-Marie, Nikki, Jane, Marta and Michelle – they are ready to start to assess you as a potential foster carer. We also have Kay our Support Worker who offers advice and assistance to foster carers and the fostering team.
Our staff focus on safeguarding and providing positive outcomes for children in our care, this is achieved by the excellent care and support given by our foster carers, and in turn, the training and support they receive from their supervising social workers. We provide a wrap-around framework for working together with the team around the child.
We also specialise in Parent and Child placements. We offer these placements over a twelve-week period to help assess parents and their ability to parent their child/ren giving them the best possible opportunity, in a safe home, to enable them to show they can parent appropriately. We are lucky in this area that the Local Authorities we work with will extend these placements to a period of 6 months and sometimes over, this gives the parent and child the best possible outcome.
Socially, in recent years we have arranged events for foster families – which includes, foster children, birth children and staff, to events to Longleat, Paultons Park and roller discos. In total, there were over 160 of us and a great time was had by all. At Christmas we hold a meal for all foster carers. Carers also meet for informal coffee and cake mornings. We understand the need to give our foster carers a high level of support and creative strategies to maintain their foster placements. To enable our carers to do this, our supervising social workers hold a reduced caseload and receive extensive training.
Our foster carers are supported 24 hours a day, 365 days a year by our qualified social workers, and a back-up manager is always available. Our “can-do” attitude is part of the Capstone culture, and we work hard to ensure that our carers and staff feel like part of the family. Foster carers are provided with opportunities to attend support groups, and meet on a regular basis – both in formal and informal environments. This year, we are offering training in PACE (Dan Hughes) to all members of the fostering team, carers and staff, which will be carried out by our psychologists. This particular way of working has proven to be very popular, and is fully supported by the Local Authorities.
