Fostering in Worcester
There is a serious shortage of homes for children in care in Worcester. This is why we are seeking people interested in becoming a carer in Worcester. It begins with a phone call or an email. We can offer you advice to discover if fostering is right for you. We can also tell you how we can support you on your fostering journey. It is important to us to be able to allow kids to stay in their own area if they are taken into care so that they are able to maintain their friendships, attend their same school, and have familiar surroundings.
We regularly have a need for carers for sibling groups and parent and child placements. Placements can be short, sometimes a few days but placements are regularly long term and could often last years. The typical placement is a bit longer than a year. For parent and child placements, the duration is usually 12 weeks. While the parent can be the mother, father, or both, more often than not, it is a girl under 18.
Sometimes when people think about fostering, they consider themselves to be too old. In reality, many people foster because they have lots of space at home as their own children have grown up and left home. Some of our carers are in their 60s and 70s. As long as you are healthy enough to meet the needs of a child, you are fit enough to foster.
Capstone is an established fostering agency covering most regions of England. We have approximately 140 committed staff members supporting more than 600 carers. Furthermore, we are hugely proud that most of our regions are rated as ‘Good’ by Ofsted.
In all our offices, our local staff members work hard to ensure that they know all of our carers personally. We also work hard to ensure the family feel of the offices. Our foster parents really appreciate the balance of the resources and knowledge associated with a larger agency and the personal “family feel” and local support of a small local office.
We are reaching out to you because, in Worcester as in the whole country, there is a serious shortage of foster parents. We need healthy, compassionate people, who have the energy to look after children. Even if you have never had any experience in caring for a child, this could be the career for you. Our training is excellent and ongoing. We compensate you well, ensuring that the children in your care have all they need.
We are an independent foster agency, and our sole job is to provide the best care possible. The placements we receive come from the local authority whose job it is to take children and young people into care when necessary. While the authorities do have their own carers, there is always a shortage. This is when they turn to independent agencies to help.
The application process begins by contacting Capstone. Once we determine that you have the spare room necessary, a social worker will visit your home and the process is underway. There is a health check and a DBS check.
If you simply want to know more, send us an email using our online contact form or call us on 0800 012 4004. We will be more than happy to answer your questions.
