Fostering in Walsall
Signing up to join the Capstone Foster Care team and becoming a foster carer in Walsall could be one of the best things you do this year – if not the very best thing you do this year.
As an independent fostering agency, we work with local authorities around England, including Walsall Council in the West Midlands, to help re-home children and young people that, for whatever reason, aren’t able to live with their birth parents anymore.
When we get a request from Walsall council for a carer, we check our records to see which of our carers are in the best position to take on that fostering placement. There is far more demand than available carers, however, and so we are always looking to recruit new, caring individuals to the Capstone Foster Care team.
So who can become a foster carer? There is no one kind of person that makes an ideal foster parent. Almost anyone can provide an important fostering service, all we ask is that you’re over the age of 25, in good health and have a spare bedroom in your home. Though a healthy supply of love, compassion and good humour can go a long way.
Once you apply we’ll come and meet you at your home to make sure you and your family have everything required to be a foster carer. We’ll also assign you a supervising social worker to help and assist you through the application process and answer any questions you might have. They’ll also help you prepare for the fostering panel – the final hurdle before becoming a fully registered foster care provider.

At Capstone we believe that fostering is a career, and so we treat our registered foster parents as care professionals. We provide all of our carers with extensive training to help them develop their fostering skills and become the best carers they can be – in turn allowing them to give the best care and outcomes to their looked after children and young people.
All carers also receive a weekly fostering allowance. These payments exist to help cover the costs associated with providing a safe and loving home to your foster care placement – as well as act as a reward for your time and dedication as part of the Capstone fostering team. The value of these allowances varies depending on the kind of placement and the area you live in but can be up to £650 per week for specialist fostering placements.
