Fostering in Lichfield
Capstone is looking for you. We are reaching out to residents of Lichfield who have a spare bedroom, good health and a loving heart. We are recruiting foster carers to help us fulfil our mandate to give children and young people opportunities to have a fun and active childhood.
Briefly, this is how foster placements take place. The local authority of Staffordshire County Council takes a child or young person into care. Each authority has its own foster families but because of the demand for fostering, they often must outsource to an independent foster agency like Capstone. Since Capstone opened its doors in 2006, we have focused on finding the best carers and developing the most comprehensive training we can.
Foster parents in Lichfield have many great local spots where they can have fun with the kids, places like Alton Towers for instance. If you chose this career, you can revel in the joys of family life. Capstone’s fostering allowance is generous and covers the cost of caring for the youngster. This gives you the freedom to focus on nurturing the child.
Beyond the spare bedroom and good health, you also need to be a patient, easy-going, and compassionate person. Your marital status, gender, sexual orientation, and age (well, you can’t be really young, such as under 21) are not factors that would impede you being a carer.

Regardless of the experience and skills you bring to the team, we are here to augment them with a selection of training sessions. Some are mandatory; you need to know the rules and regulations. Others are focused on the type of fostering you wish to be involved with. An example is parent and child placements. There is a rewarding opportunity to help a new family get off to a positive start when you guide the young mother or father in caring for their baby.
Another type of placement for which we often have requirement is sibling groups. When several brothers and sisters are taken into care together, we try to place them in the same household. For this, we have a special request for people with more than one spare room to consider coming to work with us. Young siblings of the same gender may share a bedroom which must be large enough to accommodate two beds.
Aside from the training and support, we maintain a very family-type atmosphere in our office. Ofsted rates as “Good” and we have expertise across the country that is available, if and when we need to provide special workshops.
