If you have ever thought about fostering in Coventry, you are on the right track to helping children and young people in your area achieve the success in life that can make all the difference. There are a couple of things you must know about becoming a foster carer in Coventry. The first thing is that you need to have a spare bedroom.
The second thing is that Capstone Foster Care is an independent agency that has a contract with the Coventry City Council. The local authorities take children into care when their family home breaks down. This can be the result of violence, abuse, death, or illness. Usually it is violence, neglect, or abuse. Once the child is taken into care and a decision has been made to find a placement for the child or young person, a foster home must be ready and available. The local authority then turns to its own roster of carers or outsources the placement to an independent agency such as Capstone.
There is no way to plan when we need a foster home. There is no way to plan the type of home we must have. More than half the youngsters are 10 or older. Often, there is a sibling group. We do what we can to find ways to keep the children close to the neighbourhood with which they are familiar.
It is traumatic enough to be removed from your home. Being able to continue attending the same school and play with and see their usual companions can be a positive aspect in an unsettling time. Suffice it to say, that if you live in this area, children in care need you. Capstone needs you. Desperately. You could change a child’s life forever.

We are looking for carers of all different backgrounds, either single, in a couple or married. All you need to have is a spare room, good health, energy, and commitment – and a sense of humour helps too. You do not need to have experience working with young people. You receive training during the application assessment process as well as after you are approved. If you are already providing this valuable service elsewhere and are interested in a transfer to us, know that you are needed and will be welcomed.
Our foster parents enjoy working with the Capstone team. We provide generous allowances, 24/7 support from our social work team, and a network of staff, other parents, and experts who are available to work with you if you ever need help with a special situation. The special situation can range from a child with disruptive behaviour to one with special physical or emotional needs.
You can submit an enquiry form, send us an email or speak to Alison in our local Kings Norton office (28 The Green, Kings Norton, Birmingham, B38 8SD – 0121 374 2650). Alison will give you good free advice and if you want to discuss things further, she will make a visit to your home. This is a great opportunity to find out more about fostering. If this sounds of interest to you, please call 0121 374 2650, or email firstname.lastname@example.org
