Services to Barnsley, Rotherham, Sheffield, Leeds, Wakefield, Dewsbury, Doncaster, Pontefract and other towns along the M62 corridor. The fact that we have been offering fostering services in the South Yorkshire area for such a long time means that we have an established core group of foster carers. Many of these have children placed with them on a long-term basis. Others enjoy the rewards of caring for children on a task-centred basis, helping them to return to their birth family home or to adoptive or permanent foster families.

Since joining Capstone, our fostering family has grown and we are keen to recruit more! We are a friendly, down to earth social work team and although small in numbers, we are huge in terms of enthusiasm and professionalism; all enjoying a good sense of humour and keen to obtain the best outcomes for our carers and children. Our ethos is to maintain a friendly family feel and we value the part played by carers’ sons and daughters and their other support networks.

Our success in providing successful foster placements is based on our ability to make strong matches between a child’s needs and the foster carer’s skills and family dynamics. We carefully look at our carer’s skill set and their location. We do not operate a “heads on beds policy”. The child’s needs are at the centre of all our work in our efforts to achieve the best outcomes for them and to improve their life chances. This is something you could be a part of.

We are looking to recruit foster carers who will share our vision of building brighter futures for the children and young people whom we are asked to care for. We are looking for foster carers with experience and/or skills in looking after teenagers, children with complex needs and disabilities, challenging behaviour and parent and child and sibling groups. We welcome enquires from people from all cultural backgrounds and religions and your sexuality will not prevent you from fostering.

Our team offer lots of support and training from our social workers, including a dedicated out of hours support service and a comprehensive training programme which covers areas such as attachment, safeguarding and safer caring to mention but a few, to help you carry out the fostering role. All of our foster carers receive regular supervision from their social worker and we pride ourselves in the positive support we give to our carers.

In addition, you will have access to our therapist who offers monthly surgeries to support our foster carers and two full-time teachers who support foster carers and young people with their educational needs.

You will need to have the ability to stick with our young people through the good times as well as the bad and not give up on them. You, like us, will need to have a good sense of humour in addition to being non-judgemental, be able to show empathy and maintain boundaries and structure.

Fostering is rewarding and as long as you have a spare room and are in good health, why not give us a call to register your interest and see how you can help a child build a brighter future.
