If you live in Leeds or the surrounding area and have ever thought about becoming a foster carer, we urge you to enquire and find out more about how you can help children in the area who desperately need your support. You can change their lives and their futures into something positive and happy.
Capstone Foster Care has approximately 100 committed staff members supporting 500 carers. We have 16 offices situated all over England, with our local staff members working hard to ensure that they know all of our foster parents personally. We strive to ensure the family feel in our local offices. We are able to offer new carers the resources and stability of a larger agency as well as the local person-centred attention from a small agency too.
As a carer, you could support a child. Our carers and young people enjoy getting out and about in Leeds for events and activities. Here are some of their favourites – why not check them out with the young people you look after.
- Thwaite Mills Watermill Museum – Located on an island surrounded by river and canal this museum offers you beautiful surroundings plus a working watermill museum and Georgian House to explore. See the waterwheels in action on a tour led by a knowledgeable guide.
- Leeds Sailing and Activity Centre – Visit the Sailing and Activity Centre that offers school holiday programmes for children, and lots of water and land based activities to try out as a family. Activities on offer include rowing, sailing, canoeing, climbing, and off road biking.
Simon and Helen say, “We thought about fostering for years until we took the plunge to call a few agencies and find out more about fostering. We were really pleased with the support that Capstone offered from the first call and we’ve never looked back. Thanks to them a little girl has found a place in our home and, despite the challenges, it’s been rewarding to watch her grow in confidence and achieve good grades at school.”

Just a note: You don’t have to be a couple to foster. We also need carers who are single. Gender and sexual orientation are not factors. Health and energy are the primary factors. As well, because Leeds is a diverse city, we welcome carers of all backgrounds.
There are several excellent reasons to choose Capstone. Expert social workers are available 24/7. There is an in house education team to support young people with tuition and teaching, and a full training calendar is facilitated by trained professionals, offering varied training. We also provide therapeutic services for young people who have experienced trauma and harm.
Ofsted recently inspected us and rated us as Good with Outstanding features. We are also accredited ‘Investors in People.’
