Fostering in Yorkshire
We are an independent fostering agency, recently rated as ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted and we work with Yorkshire’s local authorities to provide well-qualified carers with all types of foster placements. If you live in the North, West, or South areas of Yorkshire and have a spare bedroom, please contact us. Capstone Foster Care is looking for carers in the Yorkshire area. While there are all types of fostering needed, we are especially recruiting people who can offer a parent and child or sibling group placement.
Who can foster? The first requirement is that you have a spare bedroom big enough to accommodate a bed, dresser, desk, and wardrobe. If you have more than one spare room, that is even better as we have frequent requests to place a sibling group of two or more. As well, you need to be at least 21 years old. There is no upper age limit. What does matter is that you are in good health.
Don’t disqualify yourself from this career by thinking that you have to be married and own your own home. Your status and lifestyle are not factors. You can be single or married, LGBTQ, male or female. If you rent, check with your landlord first about taking in foster children and young people. If you have experience as a caregiver, that’s great but not necessary. During the assessment process, you will get a chance to meet people who have this experience and who are willing to share their stories with you. Our network and the training we provide, as well and the close connection and communication with our professional staff, means that you are never alone in this journey. There is a social worker available all day, every day, to answer any of your questions.
The assessment process begins with a phone call to Capstone. To become a registered carer, you will first meet with a form F assessor who gets to know you and your home and family. You will work with a supervising social worker and an expert social worker is always available to offer support and advice. Our trained professionals offer expert support and training during the application process and after. We have a great in-house education team to support young people with tuition and teaching as well as therapeutic services provided for young people. We provide you with generous weekly allowances so that all needs and necessities are covered financially, and you are rewarded for your time and energy.
Whether you are just thinking about how to start your fostering journey or are already registered and would like to transfer to us, we’re ready to talk to you about it. If you are interested in becoming a foster carer or have any questions about working with us, please do not hesitate to get in touch with our office today. You can call us on 0800 012 4004 or contact us by using our online enquiry form or Live Chat. We hope to hear from you soon. Joining our friendly team can create one of the most rewarding experiences imaginable.
