Fostering in Blackburn
We are looking for foster carers in Blackburn. We have a great group of loyal carers on our team now. They work with us to support a range of children, but we always need more carers. Actually, it is the children and young people of Blackburn who need you. We get many requests from the local councils and authorities to place sibling groups, teenagers and parent and child.
If fostering is something you have considered for a while, perhaps now is the time to get in touch with us, to find out if fostering is right for you, your family, and your home.
There are some questions that we can answer here that might come to your mind when you first think about becoming a foster carer. We can tell you that the first question is: “Do you have a spare room for a child or young person.” It all begins with how you answer this question.

While there are so many other considerations in providing a home and love and security for youngsters, having space for them to thrive is at the top of the list. The child in care should not feel like a guest but like a member of your family, regardless of how long he or she will be with you. In particular, we are eager to find a happy house with enough room for sibling groups. If you are able to provide a home for two or three siblings, talk to us.
It will take at least a couple of months for us to get to know you and for you to get to know us. During that time, a supervising social worker will visit you and your home several times. You will have a health check. You must be in good health. Anyone over the age of 18 undergoes a DBS check. Age does not matter as much as maturity does. Typically, our carers are at least 25 years old. You can be single, married, in a civil relationship, or LGBT. We encourage carers from a variety of cultures.
It is not necessary to have experience in child care, but it can be a benefit to you. During the assessment period, you will get to know other foster families and attend training sessions. We provide continuous and ongoing education and we are always available to help you with any questions or concerns. We also provide very generous allowances so that the children’s needs are met, and you are rewarded for your efforts.
