Our Values

At Capstone, we are focused on harnessing our knowledge, skills & expertise, and passion to achieve a common goal – building brighter futures, for the children in our care, our foster carers and our valued members of staff.

As such, these are the very people we consulted with in order to establish a set of 6 core values that define the aspects of foster care that we all feel matter most.

Promoting excellent outcomes for children and young people – building brighter futures into adulthood

A is nine and lives in Folkestone with a Capstone foster family. A faced significant trauma and neglect at the hands of his parents, which had an impact on his emotional and behavioural development. The foster carers quickly recognised that this little boy had huge potential...

Putting safeguarding at the heart of the agency and making it everyone’s responsibility

Jessica has offered a warm, patient and compassionate environment to the young people and children in her care. She is currently supporting J who has previously found it difficult to settle in a foster home. As with all the children she fosters, Jessica demonstrated a...

Investing in children leaving care, supporting transitions to independence and access to opportunities

When Tammy joined her fostering family at 15 her confidence and self-esteem were really low. She found it hard to eat with others, and didn’t have very many life skills. To quote Tammy during a recent discussion, she said: “I wouldn’t say I had a...

An outstanding quality of service for foster carers and their families (training, support, professionalism)

The last 12 months have been a bit of a rollercoaster for the family. Nobody really knew how challenging it was going to be to support A, the first child we fostered. This was probably a good job as he may have been deemed unsuitable...

Listening, hearing and acting for those we support (advocacy)

Michelle has supported M and S since January 2007 when they were just 3 and 4 years old. The children came into care as a result of neglect and abuse. For almost a decade, Michelle has advocated for the children to receive the support and...

Supporting and investing in our staff team to give their best

Hayley joined Capstone in 2013 as an Admin Apprentice. Hayley was always very clear about her ambition to one day become a social worker as she was very keen to support children and people who were in need. Hayley was nurtured within the team to...

These values are the solid foundation on which we can identify and achieve our goals, and by implementing, and living and breathing these values, we know we can make a difference to the lives of everyone involved. These values are not just words on a page, they are at the very heart of what we are striving to achieve – and they can be demonstrated by the Capstone family in many ways. Wherever you are across England, your local Capstone team is motivated and guided by the same set of values, and we aim to maintain them with each area, team, member of staff and carer.

Our values encompass the journey of Capstone, and everyone involved. It is a message that can grow and evolve with us, as the children and young people in our care do, and as our carers and staff do.
