Fostering in Tower Hamlets
There is a growing need for foster parents in the London borough of Tower Hamlets.
It’s important that we find people willing to foster in Tower Hamlets, as there are currently children in, and coming into care, requiring placements in this area. As a carer working with Capstone Foster Care, you will be helping to assist young people in need by maintaining stability and consistency for them.
This will be enabled by you providing them with the vital protection and nurture that they require, and helping them to maintain contact with the important people and resources in their lives. Being removed from their homes by the local authority is traumatic enough without them also being removed from their surroundings.
Often, these important people will include their siblings, whom they may come into care with. As such, we are looking for carers who have the space to take on brothers and sisters, so we can keep the family together. Each child should have his or her own bedroom. This means that the first aspect we look at is whether you have the space to take one or more children into your home.
What you can expect?
You can expect professional training, a social worker on call for any issues that arise in the placement, a full range of support services, and superb financial support from our agency.
Beyond checking for adequate space, what do we expect?
We expect that you are in good health and a patient and compassionate person. We require anyone thinking of fostering to have a DBS check, if you have a criminal record depending on the offence you may still be able to foster. It also important for anyone considering fostering that you have the time and energy to provide full-time care to a child in need.
Karen W, one of our supervising social workers in the area, will be there for you on your fostering journey. Karen has over 20 years of experience in social work, having worked with young people and families in poor rural communities; supporting young mothers needing advice and information and; working with young people with special needs and learning disabilities, and their families.
Since 2010, Karen has worked specifically in the fostering arena, supporting those caring for children in need. Karen is dedicated to improving outcomes for looked after kids and working with foster parents to make this possible.
We regularly receive referrals, asking us to assist young people in Tower Hamlets.
In order for us to provide this, we require carers from all cultural backgrounds, as the children who need you are of many different ethnicities, cultures and religions. At the moment, there is a particular requirement for people that can take in sibling groups, and children of Bangladeshi origin.
