Fostering in South London
Capstone Foster Care is an independent agency, working with local authorities across London and Essex. South London is comprised of Bexley, Bromley, Croydon, Greenwich, Kingston, Lambeth, Lewisham, Merton, Southwark, Sutton, Wandsworth, and part of Richmond.
That’s a lot of local authorities and each local authority has a steady stream of looked after children and young people. They must find placements where these youngsters can be looked after with the love and security that should be part of every child’s life.
We’re one of a number of independent fostering agencies who focus on finding and training superb carers. The sad fact is that there is a perpetual shortage of foster families in general. Capstone is no exception. We are looking for carers. If you are that special person who is interested in becoming a carer, now is the time to take action.
To foster a child is a challenging and rewarding experience. There are as many types of foster placement arrangements needed as there are children in care. The numbers may change from day to day as some new ones are removed from their homes and older ones age out or return to their birth homes.
In South London, we have a particular need for carers who can be matched with the diverse ethnic population. Ideally, a child should be placed with a family that allows him or her to maintain a connection with the language, culture, and religion of his or her birth family. With a wider diversity of carers, this is more likely to happen.

Another one of our needs is for homes that can accommodate sibling groups. Many looked after children are taken into care with their brothers and sisters.
Parent and child placement is another demand fostering services have. This is an initiative where a young parent (or parents) is placed along with their infant or toddler. This allows the infant to be protected from any harm by a young parent who does not have the skills or training that enable them to properly look after the baby. While the parent is given the necessary training, their ongoing ability to look after the baby is assessed.
If you have room in your home and good health, you have the basic requirements for joining our team. We will work with you during the application and assessment process and get to know you and how well you fit with our mandate to provide excellent fostering. We believe that a career as a foster carer is one of the best choices you can make.
We are based in Stratford and have a qualified and experienced social work team who enable us to deliver an outstanding local service to carers and children.
