Reviewing Officer

The Reviewing Officer will involve being the chair of annual, post complaints, standard of care investigations or allegations and ad hoc reviews of the agency’s foster carers and requires an in depth knowledge of, and strong commitment to, all aspects of the fostering task. It will also include a commitment to improving the overall and developing the policies and procedures that will underpin progress.

The Reviewing Officer will involve being the chair of annual, post complaints, standard of care investigations or allegations and ad hoc reviews of the agency’s foster carers and requires an in depth knowledge of, and strong commitment to, all aspects of the fostering task. It will also include a commitment to improving the overall and developing the policies and procedures that will underpin progress.

This position will be home based covering reviews across the Eastcote and Stratford offices.

Responsibilities will include:

·       Ensuring that Capstone’s foster carers provide suitable care to looked after children and to a standard that meets and where appropriate exceeds the agency’s legal responsibilities.

·       Reviewing foster carers in line with the practice and principles contained within agency procedures, policies, national guidance, standards and legislation.

·       Full audit of foster carer files prior to every annual review.

·       To ensure foster carers are aware of the child’s care plan and focused on adhering to this and achieving best outcomes.

·       Produce 6 monthly service performance and standards of care information in order to advise the Regional Director and Registered Manager of findings from foster carer reviews with a view to informing service improvements.

·       To hold pre meetings where necessary with foster carers, their birth children and young people and other professionals where needed to ensure full, positive and effective contributions to the review process.

·       Determining when foster carer reviews are required and chair these independently in accordance with the Fostering Services Regulations and National Minimum Standards.

·       Chair reviews and produce high quality reports within agreed timescales.

·       Promote good child care practice and contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of the agency responsibility to foster carers and to looked after children.
 

Applicants must have:

·       A relevant Social Work qualification and be SWE registered

·       Have 5 years social work experience ideally with some fostering sector experience

·       Sound knowledge of NMS for fostering and fostering legislation

·       Ideally have experience of charing reviews of foster carers

·       Be eligible to work within the UK

·       Current driving licence and access to transport. Whilst reviews are currently conducted remotely there will be a necessity to travel at times for Foster Carer reviews.

·       IT skills
