Senior Practitioner - Heywood

Reporting to their Team Manager with a team of experienced Supervising Social workers covering the Greater Manchester, Lancashire and parts of West Yorkshire.

Responsibilities:

  • To contribute to the effective day to day practice of the fostering service
  • Recruit, assess, train and support foster carers, working in partnership with team members to provide a high quality and safe service for foster families and the children/young people they look after
  • Promote great outcomes for children and young people looked after
  • Provide line management to Fostering Support Workers/ SSW’s when required and cover line management responsibility when required
  • Actively engage in and uphold the values of the agency

It is essential that applicants have:

  • Knowledge of the Children Act 1989, Children Act 2004, Children and Families Act 2014 and any other legislation relevant to the needs of looked after children, care leavers and foster carers
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient IT skills across all window based applications
  • Ability to analyse information and report on its contents
  • Degree in Social Work, DipSW or equivalent.
  • SWE registration
  • 3 years’ experience of working in fostering/child related social work.
  • Experience of assessing potential foster carers
  • Experience of supervision of students or staff
  • A full driving license
