Viv Brown

Viv has been working in the care profession for over 35 years. Viv worked directly with young people as a foster carer, later combining this with a career as a local authority fostering officer and qualified as a social worker in 1994. Before becoming a freelance social worker and trainer 15 years ago, Viv’s work included residential care with the Children’s Society, Essex Education Department and SCOPE. Viv still retains direct contact with young people and carers in her roles as an Out of Hours social worker and a Complaints Receiving Officer for several IFP’s; she also continues to undertake Form F assessments for potential new carers on a regular basis and chairs Xcel 2000’s fostering panel.

As a trainer, she aims to relate her experiences in a useful way that will inspire others to continue to offer a high level of care.
