Fostering in Torquay
Have you been thinking about becoming a foster carer and are wondering if you could start fostering in Torquay? If you’re over the age of 21 and in good health, then the answer is yes! Contact Capstone Foster Care’s South West team today and take the first step on your journey to foster care.
Capstone Foster Care is an independent foster care agency. This means that we work with local authorities across the country, including Torquay local council in Devon, to provide high-quality foster families to take on foster placements when the councils own contingent of carers is unable to keep up with the ever-growing need for loving foster homes. This is why we want you to consider becoming a foster parent with Capstone Foster Care, there is currently a large disparity between the number of children and young people in need of care and the number of people able to provide that care. We need your help to close this gap in your local community.
You might be wondering what you need to become a foster carer? Apart from the aforementioned minimum age (there is no upper age limit) and health requirement, you need to have a spare room in your house. This is vitally important as it provides your foster placements with secure and private space where they can relax and feel safe. It has been proven that such a space vastly improves the outcome of any foster placement and so is a mandatory requirement for anyone thinking of offering such a needed service. If you have more than one spare room, then we’d love for you to consider fostering a sibling group. Your gender, race, age, faith or whether you identify as LGBTQ have no affect and your ability to provide a great fostering service and so they have no impact on your ability to join our team.
Once you apply you’ll be assigned a supervising social worker who will be there to support you throughout the assessment process. This will start with an informal visit to your home and will culminate, between four and six months later, with a meeting with an impartial fostering panel. This panel will give the final recommendation as to your suitability as a foster carer, but the final decision to approve you is the responsibility of Capstone Foster Care.
As a full-time carer, we know it’s important to make sure you feel financially secure. That’s why we provide all of our carers with a competitive weekly allowance. Not only do these payments help cover the costs of caring for your placement, but also as a reward for the time and love they have invested into changing the lives of children and young people.
By becoming a foster carer in Torquay, you’ll be supporting children and young people in your local area and aiding in their future development.
