Fostering in Melksham
Capstone is eagerly seeking foster carers in Melksham. We are an independent fostering agency (IFA) and have an arrangement with the local authority of the Wiltshire Council to provide caring homes in this historic town of 23,000 people.
When the local authority takes a child into care, it often is able to find a carer on its own list. However, with a growing need for more foster parents, the LA works with an IFA to meet this demand. Because there is an ongoing shortage of foster parents across the UK, it became impossible for the local authorities to find enough placements.
As an independent agency, we recruit and train carers and provide the best possible support. The more carers we have, the better able we are to fulfil our mandate of providing bright futures for the region’s children.
If you have a spare bedroom and live in Melksham, we are looking for you. Ideally, you are over 21, but being over 21 is acceptable in some cases. Age is not a factor so much as your health is. Your marital status, gender, and sexual orientation are not important to your application.

Your personality, patience, and sense of humour are factors. The carer application process is pleasant and begins with getting in contact with Capstone. Our social worker will have several meetings with you and your family. The visits last about two hours and provide ample opportunity for you to ask questions and voice any concerns that you have.
One of the big questions is often about the types of placements. Here is a quick view of the primary type of placement needs we have in Melksham. One is for parent and child placements. This is a different type of arrangement where a young mother or father and a young child are placed with you. You ensure that the baby’s needs are met while helping the parent learn the ins and outs of caring for an infant or toddler.
Sibling group foster care is the other type of care where there is an urgent need for people like you. Because as often as not, there are several children in a family that go into care together, we seek homes where they can stay together.
At Capstone, we support you throughout your fostering career, with a creative training package, 24/7 support, and regular supervision so that both you and your family can enjoy the rewards that a fostering career will bring.
Our local office has a friendly, caring, stable, and highly professional team of social workers, therapists, educational experts, administrators, and management, all linked by our shared passion to achieve good outcomes for children and first-class support for our carers. In addition to the support and the personal fulfilment of fostering, there are generous allowances.
Our local office is in Frome and this is where our training sessions are held. If you would like more information on the process of becoming a foster carer or would simply like to talk with one of our friendly staff on the subject, please don’t hesitate to contact us by either calling 0800 012 4004 or by using our online enquiry form.
