Fostering in Brixham

Fostering in Brixham with Capstone Foster CareCould you start fostering in Brixham with Capstone Foster Care? Children and young people in your local area need your help.

As an independent fostering agency, Capstone Foster Care works with local authorities across the South West of England, including Devon, to help provide loving homes for vulnerable children and young people when the local council’s contingent of carers are unable to meet the ever-growing demand for foster parents in the area. This is why we’re always looking for caring, passionate individuals to join our foster care team.

All you need to start your fostering journey is to be in good health, be over 21  years of age and, most importantly, have a spare room in your home.  The last part is vital as having access to a secure, private space has proven to be highly beneficial to the child or young person in care and provides the best overall fostering outcomes. Beyond this, however,  your age, race,  religion, gender or whether you identify as LGBTQ will have no impact on your ability to join our team and provide high-quality care services with Capstone.

Once you’ve registered your interest in becoming a carer, you’ll be visited in your home by your assigned supervising social worker for an informal sit-down. This marks the start of the assessment process as your social worker gets to know you better and learns more about your living situation. The assessment process usually lasts between four and six months and culminates with a meeting with an impartial fostering panel. This panel will make a recommendation as to your suitability as a foster carer, but the final decision remains with us. During the assessment period, you’ll also be invited to attend a range of fostering skills training courses as part of our educational and support program for prospective foster carers.

While money isn’t usually peoples main reason for entering the world of foster care, since being a foster care is a full-time job it’s important that you know you’re financially secure while working as a carer. We treat our carers as professionals and provide a competitive weekly allowance, not only to cover the costs of caring for your foster placement but also as a reward for the time, dedication and care you have given to your role. All carers also have access to around the clock support team.

If you’re looking to become a foster parent for the first time, or are an experienced carer looking for a new fostering home, then please get in touch with Capstone Foster care today. Our friendly and knowledgeable staff are on hand to provide information or advice that you may need. You can contact us by giving us a call on 0800 012 4004 or by completing our online enquiry form.

By joining our fostering family you’ll be joining a caring community of carers who in recent years has been awarded a rating of Good from Ofsted. Together, we can change the lives of children and young people across Devon. We look forward to hearing from you.
