Fostering in Watford

Fostering in Watford with Capstone Foster CareAre you interested in becoming a foster parent and fostering in Watford? If so, then Capstone Foster Care would love to hear from you.

As an independent fostering agency, we work closely with local authorities – such as Watford council in the South East. Just like everywhere else in England, this Hertfordshire town and home to the Hornets, has more children and young people in need of foster carers, than foster cares to match with them. This is why we need your help. If you become a foster carer with Capstone, you’ll be changing the lives of children and young people in your local area.

There are only a few things you need to consider before first applying to become a foster parent. First, you need to be over the age of 21 and be in good health. More importantly, however, you need to have a spare room in your home. This is vital as it will give the child or young person in your care a secure and safe place where they can have their privacy – something which helps them with their personal development and towards a positive foster care experience. Your race, faith, gender identity, whether you’re LGBTQ nor what your relationship status is, has any impact on your ability to provide high quality fostering services – so we make sure they don’t impact your ability to foster with us.

Once you apply with Capstone, you’ll be assigned with a supervising social worker to help guide you through the assessment process. They’ll start by visiting you and, if appropriate, your family too, in your home. Here they’ll ask you some questions and learn a little more about you so they can start filling out the Form F Assessment. Throughout the assessment process, your social worker will be on hand to support you and offer advice and help you work towards the final foster panel meeting – as well as assess what types of fostering you may be best suited to. As part of our training and support services, we’ll also provide access to a fostering skills training course to ensure that you have everything you need to provide high-quality foster care to the foster child or young person in your care during this period.
