Eve & Colin
Eve and Colin have been foster carers for over 20 years. They started their fostering career as respite carers with a local authority. After a short break they joined a fostering agency in 2009, which became part of Capstone in 2013, and they have remained with us ever since.
Eve and Colin have a wealth of experience having raised four sons of their own and adopting a fifth son who they had fostered for several years. As parents/adopters/foster carers they have faced challenges but more importantly have found caring for and raising young people to be richly rewarding and satisfying.
Eve and Colin have a strong sense of what is right and wrong in the world and are saddened by some of the injustices they see. This was part of their initial motivation to foster and why they have continued to provide a safe and nurturing home environment to vulnerable young people for so many years.
Colin says “We wanted to help someone who has been disadvantaged, to do something good for them, to give them a head start. We wanted to give them somewhere they belong, help them move on and give them a good preparation for becoming an adult”.
They have certainly achieved this with 2 brothers placed by Croydon Council. The first was placed with them when he was 11 years old and remained until after he reached 18. He is now living independently and attending a local university. “We are confident he will forge a good life for himself”. His younger brother joined the family a few years later at 12 and still lives with them as he approaches his 18th birthday. He has additional support needs and has hugely benefitted from all that Eve and Colin provide for him. Their commitment to him is absolute and they want to support him into his adult years because of his on-going vulnerabilities.
Eve and Colin are not willing to rest yet and, alongside supporting their youngster into his adulthood, they want to look after young people on a temporary basis.
We are lucky to have Eve and Colin as foster carers, as are children and young people who are welcomed to join their household.
We would love you to join our team! We are here to provide any information or answer any questions about fostering – so please get in touch.
