Fostering Leicestershire

fostering leicestershireSome people ask, “Can I foster?” Others ask, “Why foster?” The answer to both questions begins with understanding what fostering is. It is about building brighter futures. Capstone Foster Care has a contract with Leicestershire County Council to provide its superb fostering services to the children and young people that the Council’s local authority has removed from their homes due to violence, abuse, or neglect. Occasionally there are other reasons for the removal, such as the death of a parent.

This is why we are looking for people who are interested in becoming carers in this area. Studies have indicated that it is better for children to remain in their familiar community when they are taken away from their families. If they had a difficult home situation, chances are good they have friends at their school that are important to them. If you have ever wondered what you can do to make someone’s world better, and if you have the spare room necessary in your house or flat, think about joining our team.

We will train you to do this. We know you’re not a fully-fledged carer from the moment you call us. If you are willing to learn and grow and take on a challenge, Capstone Midlands has the experience and staff to provide the training and support you need.

We are a friendly group. We like to get together. We like to have fun. We like to celebrate. We do this because our carers work hard 7 days a week 24/7. Our carers enjoy the camaraderie but their biggest reward is seeing the difference they’ve made.

Speaking of having fun, one of the events of which we are particularly proud is the annual Panto production by SWM Theatre Company in Wigston. Over the last few years, our team has sponsored the production. Mel, one of our Leicester foster parents, is involved in the production of the show and children supported by Capstone have been involved in the performance.

This type of involvement helps the young people we foster to thrive and enjoy being part of a team, making friendships, and socialising positively with one another.

We have a local office in Leicester, which supports the East Midlands including Leicester City and the surrounding county of Leicestershire. We work with the relevant local authorities to ensure that they are supported to have high-quality placements for their vulnerable children. Our Leicester office is a sub-office of our main Birmingham base.

If you have been thinking about fostering for a while, live in Leicestershire, and have at least one spare room available, why not give us a call? We are always looking for carers in the Leicestershire area, especially those who can take on a group of siblings. You could help a child reach his or her full potential and experience the satisfaction of making a difference in someone’s life.

We are also looking for carers who can look after a parent and child. This is a different type of fostering, where your role is to protect the young child while helping the mother or father learn how to look after their little one. Your first instinct might be to bond with the infant or toddler, but you must help the parent-child bonding to thrive.

Alison from our Midlands recruitment team is the first point of contact for anyone who has an enquiry about becoming a carer with us. Contact Alison by 0121 374 2650 or by email on enquiries@capstonemidlands.co.uk – your local Capstone office is Beaumont Enterprise Centre, 72 Boston Road, Leicester, LE4 1HB – 0121 374 2650.
