Fostering in Southampton
Capstone Foster Care is searching for caring and dedicated individuals to start fostering in Southampton and help us grow our local foster care team. Children and young people across Southampton – and the rest of Hampshire – are in need of loving and caring foster homes and by joining our team of carers, you’ll be helping to change the lives of children and young people across the South West.
Capstone Foster Care is an independent fostering agency. This means we work closely with local authorities across England, including Southampton City Council, to provide foster care support services. The demand for foster homes is constantly growing, and many authorities are unable to meet this demand with their own roster of carers. This is where Capstone Foster Care comes in. By providing high-quality foster parents to help meet the need for loving foster homes, we are making a real difference – but we need your help to continue doing so.
If you’re interested in answering our recruitment call for foster carers in Southampton, there are a few things you need to consider before you apply. The most important thing to think about is whether you have space in your home to take on a fostering placement. Every child or young person needs their own private and secure space, and so having a spare bedroom is a vital part of becoming a foster parent. Apart from this, you need to be over the age of 21 and be in good health – this is just so we know you’re physically able to care for a child or young person. Beyond these requirements, neither your age, gender, faith, race or sexuality impact on your ability to foster a child and provide incredible care, and so don’t change your ability to become a foster parent with Capstone.
All of our foster parents receive a competitive weekly payment to help cover the cost of caring for your foster placement as well as to act as a reward for the time and love you have dedicated to your position. Capstone Foster Care provides many different types of foster care services – including therapeutic care, sibling group care and parent and child placements – and by taking on these more specialised placements, you’ll receive different levels of allowances and payments.

Once you apply you’ll be assigned a supervising social worker who will support you throughout the fostering assessment process. They will meet with you, and your family if applicable, to learn more about you and tell you more about the next steps. During the assessment period, we’ll also provide you with fostering parenting skills courses. This is to help you make sure you have all the skills you need as a new foster carer, to provide top quality fostering services.
