Fostering in Ivybridge
Children and young people in your local community need your help to give them a kind and loving home. Capstone Foster Care are an independent fostering agency who work across the South West of England supporting local authorities including Devon County Council to provide foster care services and are actively looking for families and individuals interested in becoming foster carers in Ivybridge.
There are a few questions you will need to answer as part of your fostering application, such as do you have a spare room? Are you over the age of 21 and in good health? There is no maximum age limit, and your marital status, religion and sexual orientation are not factors in your application. The first question is key to your application as in order for a child or young person to feel secure, its vital that they have access to their own space. If you have more than one spare bedroom then you may be able to help a sibling group, as its been proven to have a positive impact on the outcome of a child’s experience in foster care if brothers and sisters are kept together. If you have a number of spare bedrooms, we would really love to hear from you.
As part of your application, you will be assigned a social worker who will visit you in your home and be able to answer any questions you might have whilst considering this as a career. Becoming a foster carer is a full-time job and as such we view our foster carers as professionals and provide competitive weekly allowances to cover the daily costs of caring for your foster placement and also as a reward for the dedication and care you are giving to your role.
After an initial visit, there will be some health checks and DBS checks. We will also want to meet with all members of your household who are over the age of 18. The assessment process in can take between four to six months with the final stage meeting with a fostering panel who will make a recommendation as to your suitability to become a foster carer.
We have been awarded “good’ in our recent Ofsted inspection, something we are very proud of. At Capstone Foster Care we strive for a friendly and caring community for all of our foster carers, both for those who are experienced foster carers and are interested in transferring to another independent foster care agency and those who are new to the idea of taking care of a child or young person. We are committed to providing ongoing training and support for all of our carers, this includes 24/7 access to a social worker, 365 days a year and expert advice for any questions or specialist support you may require.
