Fostering in Crediton
Could you join our local team and starting fostering in Crediton in Devon? If you’re over the age of 21, in good health and have a spare room in your home. Then the answer is yes!
Capstone Foster Care is an independent fostering agency. This means that we work with local authorities and provide high-quality foster carers when the local council’s roster of foster carers isn’t enough to meet the need for foster families in the area. There is an ever growing nationwide discrepancy between the number of children and young people in need of a loving foster home and the amount of available foster parents. This is why we want to you think about becoming a registered foster parent in your local community.
Your race, gender, faith or whether you identify as LGBTQ has no impact on your ability to provide high-quality care services and so has no affect on your ability to join our Crediton town team. All you need, as already mentioned, is to be over 21 years of age, be in good health and have a spare room in your house. This last point is vital, as it has been proven that having their own safe and private space where they can relax and feel space, massively improves the outcome of a foster placement for children and young people in care, so much so that this is a mandatory requirement for taking on a foster placement.
Once you apply, you, and your family if applicable, will be visited in your home by your assigned social worker who’ll be on hand to support you and guide you through the fostering assessment process. This process normally takes between four and six months and culminates in a meeting with an impartial fostering panel who will make the final recommendation as to your suitability as a foster carer, the final decision, however, remains with Capstone. During this period you’ll also be invited to a fostering skills training course as part of our education and support provision for prospective new carers.
Fostering is a full-time job, and like with any career you need to be sure that you’re financially secure throughout. That’s why we provide all of our carers a competitive weekly allowance along with special tax break benefits. These are paid, not just to help cover the costs of caring for a new addition to your family, but as a reward for the time, love and dedication invested in your new role.
By becoming a foster parent, you’ll be providing an essential service and have the opportunity to change the lives of children and young people in your community. If you’re looking to start your fostering journey, or are an experienced carer looking for a new agency, then please contact us today. Our friendly staff are on hand to answer any questions you might have and tell you more about the types of fostering services we offer.
