Fostering in Thurrock
Capstone Foster Care want you to consider making a real difference in your local community and start fostering in Thurrock.
As an independent fostering agency, we work with local authorities and borough councils around England, including Thurrock Council in Essex. When the local council decides that a child or young person’s living situation is not feasible, they may step in to put the child into care with foster parents provided by independent companies like Capstone. The need for carers, however, is often far higher than the number of foster families available – and this is why we need your help.
By becoming a foster parent in Thurrock you can make a difference to children and young people in your local area. This rewarding work will allow the child or young person to stay in their school – something that is proven to improve learning in children in care – as well as stay near their existing friends.
If you decide to join our fostering team and provide essential fostering services, you’ll receive extensive training to ensure that you are able to be the best carer you can be. You’ll also receive a weekly foster care allowance. This money is designed to help support the costs of your foster placement, as well as act as a reward for the time and dedication you have invested in your role. You will also receive other benefits, including income tax breaks.
So who can become a foster parent? You simply need to be over the age of 21, be in good health and have at least one spare room so that the lookedafter child can have their own safe and private space.
Once you apply you will be assigned a supervising social worker. They will visit you and your family in your home to make sure you have everything you need to start your fostering career in Thurrock. They will continue to support you and provide advice throughout the application process and beyond.

At Capstone, we offer a wide variety of fostering services, long-term care, short-term care prior to the child or young person returning to their family or being placed for adoption, sibling group placements, parent and child placements and more. We are especially looking for people able to take on the latter two placement types. A sibling group placement involves the fostering of brothers and sisters, something which is proven to improve the happiness of young people and children placed into care. Parent and child placements involve taking on a child along with their young parent. Helping to assess and offer advice to new families to help keep them together.
