Fostering in Canvey Island
Do you live in the Canvey Island area of Essex? Are you thinking about becoming a foster care? If so, then we urge you to contact us today and help us make a real difference in the lives of local children and young people.
We are Capstone Foster Care. An independent foster care agency that works with local authorities across England, including Essex County Council, to provide caring and loving homes for children and young people who, for whatever reason, have had to leave their birth family. We’re always searching for caring and supportive individuals to join our team and work with us to provide high-quality fostering services to those who need it most.
We provide a variety of fostering services in the Canvey Island area, from more standard long and short-term foster placements to more specialist types of foster care. These more specialised form of care include parent and child care and sibling group foster care – we are especially interested in hearing from those able to take on these foster care placements.
If you decide to become a foster carer and join the Capstone team, you’ll be treated like the professional that you are. Foster care is a full-time job and for many, a career, so we know it’s important that our careers are fairly paid and have opportunities for personal and professional development. This is why we provide all of our carers with a competitive weekly allowance with additional tax-free breaks and a wide range of fostering and parenting skills training courses.
So what do you need to become a foster carer? Firstly, you need to be over 21 years of age and be in good health. Secondly and most importantly, you need to have one or more spare bedrooms available in your home to act as a private space and sanctuary for any child or young person placed in your care. It doesn’t matter if your housing is owned or rented (as long as your lease doesn’t prevent children living there) or whether it’s a house or an apartment, as long as you have that all-important spare room. Your age, gender, race, faith or whether you identify as LGBTQ has no impact on your ability to provide great quality care and so doesn’t impact your ability to join our team. In fact, we’re always working to match our carers with the child or young person’s requirements – including social and cultural needs – and so we’re always looked to build a varied and diverse roster of carers.
If you’re interested in making a real difference in Canvey Island and help provide positive fostering results for children and young people – or just want some more information about the application process or the world of foster care – then Capstone Foster Care want to hear from you.
