Meet the Team

Meet Mary

Mary ModenMy name is Mary Moden and I am the Registered Manager for Capstone Foster Care in the North. I began my social work career in 1987 working with children and later adults with disabilities.  After gaining my Social Work qualification in 1994, I moved into a Therapeutic Residential Programme where I remained for 10 years gaining various incremental positions.  Here I learnt about the significance of attachment and trauma in children’s early lives and how this impacts upon substitute families.  I moved to an independent fostering agency in 2009 as I felt my skills were transferable; supporting foster carers living with children with such complex needs.  I became a Principle Social Worker for this agency 2012 before moving to Capstone in 2014.

I thoroughly enjoy my job at Capstone Foster Care and feel very lucky that I was given the opportunity to lead an experienced and committed team in providing fabulous support and training to our foster carers.  We have some amazing carers who are truly valued and our outcomes for the children and young people within our agency are exceptional.

AdamMeet Adam

Hey there! I’m Adam. As a Foster Carer Recruitment Co-ordinator, I’m here to give you information and answer any of your questions. My role is to recruit foster carers for the North West region. I have five years’ experience in this role.
Working as a fostering support worker is exciting every day and for me, the best part is meeting people from all walks of life. I’m a husband and father of two, and every so often I’m the one seeking advice on parenting. I’m addicted to football but won’t state my favourite team as that often goes against me. I’m multi-lingual and can speak Gujarati, Urdu, Hindi and obviously English. I’ll be interacting with you in many ways throughout your fostering journey and look forward to meeting you.

Meet Pam

Pam HulmeMy name is Pam Hulme and I’m the Senior Practitioner for Capstone Foster Care in Oldham. I qualified as a Social Worker in 2004 and worked as a Children’s Social Worker for a Local Authority for more than 3 years, before joining a large independent fostering agency in 2007 as a Supervising Social Worker.

I love working for a fostering agency, I enjoy being part of a large team who  endeavour to support children to develop into healthy and happy individuals when they are not able to live at home with their family. I moved to Capstone Foster Care in 2015 to extend myself and to join a team that I knew to be experienced, child focused and understanding and where outcomes for children are very good. My new job gives me more scope to work with even more carers and children and I am really enjoying working here.

Meet Alison

Alison DicksonMy name is Alison Dickson and I a Supervising Social Worker for Capstone Foster Care in Barnsley. I began my journey into social care in 1986, where I worked for ten years in residential homes for the elderly. After moving to England in 1992, I embarked upon a six year period of study, which included further and higher education. Throughout this period, I gained further experience working in a homeless hostel for 16 to 25 year olds and also within acute adult psychiatric wards throughout Sheffield.

After gaining my Social Work qualification in 1999, I worked in a children in need team, which involved child protection work. I moved to a leaving care team, working with young people aged between 16 and 21 years old, where I remained for 10 years. I then worked as a manager in a family contact centre where I remained for 7 months. I then decided to change direction and use my skills to support foster carers in their work with vulnerable and troubled children. I commenced employment with an independent fostering agency from 2011 till 2013 until Capstone took over the company in June 2013.

I have remained with Capstone Foster Care, as I enjoy my job and have built up positive working relationships with our foster carers. The management and team at Capstone are positive and supportive of both staff and foster carers I feel valued as part of this team. I particularly like the fact that the agency are very child focused providing positive outcomes for children.

Meet Carole

Carole Bell

Hi, I’m Carole and I am a Senior Supervising Social Worker, at Capstone North.  I have been in this role for almost 12 years now and enjoy it immensely.

My background, from an early age, was within the learning and physical disability sector, as well as residential work prior to the fostering role, which gave me a good grounding in all aspects of social care.  I am fortunate to have lived abroad for a number of years, with HM forces, before I embarked on my Social Work degree and Management qualifications and when I completed these was lucky enough to gain employment in fostering; a role I relish.

On a daily basis, I have the pleasure of working face to face with outstanding carers and children!

Meet Gavin

Gavin HoggHello I’m Gavin, half of Capstone’s education team. I joined the company in August 2013 and my main role is to work with young people either through in-class or 1-1 academic support. My work also includes attending PEP or LAC meetings when required, compiling termly reports on the pupils I work with, delivering education training to carers and supporting them in feeling empowered to work in partnership with schools. I thoroughly enjoy my job; I feel that my role has a direct impact on the outcomes of the young people I work with and I appreciate the tight knit and supportive atmosphere in Capstone.

My career history has included working as a primary school teacher in Knowsley, teaching English in north Italy for 3 years, being a learning mentor in a primary school and working as an education officer for another Independent Fostering Agency for 7 years.

Outside of work I’m passionate about music and constantly struggling to find room for the records and CDs I can’t stop buying. I also help to present a community radio show, co-present a podcast and am involved in a local Record Club. I still play 5-a-side football when I can and finally realised my dream by completing my one and only marathon in 2017.

Meet Becky

BeckyI worked for a Solicitors Firm in Manchester for 16 years before joining Capstone Foster Care as an Office Administrator. I was promoted to Office Manager in 2013 and love all the different aspects of the role which is varied and rewarding.

I regularly support foster carers and social workers to complete daily tasks that will enable them to achieve brighter futures for young people. I’m really passionate about supporting others and I will always offer help and assistance to anyone who needs it.

I often speak to those who are thinking of fostering, to share advice and information about becoming a foster carer.  I enjoy organising events and activities for foster carers and the children we support.

My two daughters are aged 18 and 12, so when I am not working they both keep me busy!
