Fostering in Oldham
We’re looking for caring individuals to start a new and rewarding career by fostering in Oldham with Capstone Foster Care.
As an independent fostering agency, Capstone works with local authorities across England to provide foster care services to children and young people who, for whatever reason, have had to leave their home and families. One local authority we work with is Oldham Council in the North of England. As with many parts of the country, the number of children and young people in need of a secure and caring foster home far outnumbers the number of foster parents available.
This is why we want you to consider becoming a new foster carer.
By becoming a new foster carer in the Oldham and Greater Manchester area, you’ll be providing essential services to children and young people who need support in pointing their lives back in the right direction.
So who can become a foster carer? There are only a few requirements for new foster carers and we offer many types of fostering services; meaning that there’s a type to suit almost any prospective foster parent. All that we ask is that you are in good health, are over the age of 25 and have a spare room in your home. Your gender, preferences or race don’t impact your ability to provide quality care to a child or young person in need – and so they don’t impact your ability to join our team.

Once you apply, you’ll be visited in your home by a supervising social worker. This visit is to simply ascertain whether you have everything you need to become a foster carer. After this visit, your social worker will be on hand to offer help and guidance throughout the carer assessment process. You will also be provided with fostering skills training.
This support and training doesn’t stop once you become a fully registered carer, however. We offer a variety of courses to help improve your fostering skills and our support team will remain on hand 24 hours a day and 365 days a year (yes, even Christmas!) to help you with any issues that may arise or to answer any questions that you might have.
As well as the rewarding experience of knowing that you’re making a positive change in your local area, foster carers with Capstone Foster Care also receive a weekly allowance, as well as income tax benefits. The allowance is provided, not only to help cover the costs of caring for your new family members but also as a reward for the time, love and dedication you have invested into your new role.
