To celebrate the hard work and achievements of our foster carers in 2019, the Capstone East London team hosted a New Year Celebration carers event on the 17th January for our Stratford and Dartford foster carers at the Wazir Turkish restaurant in Ilford.

We had a really great turn out and a lovely evening was had by all. It was a wonderful opportunity for foster carers and staff to get together and celebrate what we have achieved in the past year.

We reflected on 2019 and looked ahead to 2020 and the brighter futures we will continue to make. We all enjoyed a lovely meal and conversation. We then had a live caricaturist join us to draw pictures of our foster carers, to take away and serve as a lovely memory of the evening.

The carers said ‘It felt like a BIG family reunion’.

Thank you to all that attended, the staff had a wonderful evening and was lovely to spend quality time with you all and to thank you for all that you do!

To celebrate Black History Month 2019, the Capstone South East team hosted a ‘Multi-cultural Lunch’ on Wednesday 16th October 2019. It was a great opportunity for our region to recognise and appreciate our diverse team. We have staff from the African, Caribbean and Asian subcontinents, as well as Europe and the UK, and what better way to celebrate this than to bring in food from our country of origin!

We had chicken biriyani, vegetable pilau rice, samosas, chicken kebabs, naan bread and “gulab jamun” (Indian dough balls in syrup), stuffed vine leaves from Turkey, mini Yorkshire puddings with sausages and gravy, a ploughman’s platter, scones and apple pies from England, creamy spinach with peanut butter, spicy sausages and spicy Jollof rice and plantain from Africa and even Welsh cakes from Wales!

Black History Month is all about celebrating achievements – we certainly proved that with our diverse culinary skills!

Sadly there will be many children across the country that will be spending Christmas away from home, not with family and unsure whether they will be receiving any presents.

With this and our Capstone values in mind, our Dartford and West London teams decided to work together to raise money which could be used to buy gifts this Christmas. Our staff all donated money so that gifts could be bought and donated to the team at the ‘The Giving Tree’ in Bluewater, Kent. The Giving Tree, which is supported by Heart FM, supports over 40 charities in the local area, who are devoted to putting a smile on the faces of local, disadvantaged children this Christmas.

Last year they helped over 17,000 children and this year they are hoping to support even more. Capstone South East and our teams are so happy to have contributed towards this initiative and believe that supporting children and young people in any way we can helps to build a brighter future and make a huge difference.

Small gestures from ourselves, our local communities and yourself can help to make that difference this year. So if you would like to get involved, we encourage you to locate your cause and donate what you can to make Christmas better for thousands of children and young people.

Well done team! A wonderful idea that will make a big difference.
