Economic Well-Being | Capstone Foster Care Agency
- Capstone carers receive an income that reflects the important and skilled work they do and enables them to have a comfortable lifestyle which encourages placed children to aspire to a similar one for themselves in independence
- Capstone seeks to ensure that carers’ financial security impacts on children by offering them an extended range of ways in which they can develop and express their individual identity
- With the help of our three educational specialists and their SSWs, carers work hard at building relationships with schools and encouraging children to reach their potential and gain qualifications. Young people are encouraged to take part-time jobs when they are old enough and to earn extra money by doing jobs at home
- Children and young people are encouraged to save using savings accounts and taught how to manage money by their carers. The link between effort and financial reward is encouraged by, for example, the Capstone practice of sending a cheque to each young person on their GCSE or ‘A’-level awards if they have tried hard
- The Capstone Fund is available to provide financial assistance to help make the shift into independence as smooth as possible, giving care-leavers increased opportunities to join the labour market at the highest possible level
