Community and Social Responsibility

At Capstone we also want good outcomes for the community to which a child belongs and we want to encourage and support charitable endeavour.

Our charitable giving programme currently includes the following initiatives:

  1. Financial support to help young people make the move from fostering to independent living and to assist them in their early years as adults.  To that end, we have in particular given financial assistance to The Care Leavers' Foundation (www.thecareleaversfoundation.org).

  2. Annual donations to charities selected by our staff or carers that are local to our offices.  We also encourage staff to take time off during working hours to do some work with a local charity.

  3. Our Stroud office has for several years provided financial support to Sangam School in India to assist in improving the quality of its educational service.

  4. Sponsoring young people in care to visit I-B School near Delhi in India.  This school was set up by Amar Dhull, one of the Capstone directors, and has 1250 pupils.  It has links with four European schools and teams from these schools have visited India for a week in November in recent years to witness the Annual School Festival and the rich Indian culture.  In 2008 Capstone sponsored two young people in the care of London Local Authorities to share that experience (click here for the Capstone November 2008 ‘Latest news’ item).

In addition, Capstone is concerned to be responsible in terms of the global community and to that end we have thought through our use of energy and how we can achieve minimum impact on the environment.  We store almost all information electronically and operate electronic diaries, our waste paper is pulped and recycled and we have energy-saving devices throughout our offices.
