Fostering in Ilford
Capstone Foster Care is currently recruiting people to care for looked after youngsters in Ilford. There is a growing need for this service in the Ilford community and we want to ensure that we have the right person to care for each looked after child. We know that all of our foster carers do an excellent job in supporting these youngsters.
We get referrals of children of all ages, although over 10 is most prevalent in this Borough. There is something that should be mentioned because there are myths that need to be dispelled. You do not need to be a married couple or own your home. Single men and women of at least 21 years of age are encouraged to consider fostering. Renting your home is quite acceptable.
Many children come into care with their siblings, so we are also looking for carers who have the space to take in brothers and sisters, so we can keep the family together. Each child must have his or her own bedroom with the exception of young siblings of the same gender who may share a room. If the room is shared, it needs to have space for two beds, a desk, and a chest of drawers. Being able to keep a sibling group together has been shown as having a positive effect for youngsters in care. If you have more than one spare bedroom, please think about contacting Welcome.
There are different types of placements in addition to individual children and sibling groups, such as emergency, respite, and parent and child placements (which used to be called mother and baby).
We provide training and support during the assessment process and after you are approved as a carer. We need carers from a wide variety of backgrounds. If you have already been approved as a carer with another agency and are interested in a transfer to Welcome, we are here to help facilitate the move.
