Fostering in Hackney
Capstone Foster Care is recruiting foster carers in Hackney. We are an independent fostering agency and we have a contract with the local authority of the Borough of Hackney. Capstone is experienced in Essex and London fostering and have been inspected by Ofsted and given an overall rating of ‘Good’. In particular, we were praised for going the extra mile for our carers, having positive outcomes for the children in terms of their education, health, and maintaining contact.
Foster carers appreciate the family atmosphere of the agency and how they are treated and respected as professionals. They feel that they receive effective carer training and regular supervision and support. The focus on protecting children is strong. At the heart of everything that Capstone does is supporting children’s right to a positive future. We believe that providing a warm, caring home for a looked after young person is an important job.
Children taken into care are often not alone. We are in short supply of homes with enough room for a sibling group. If you have room for brothers and sisters so they can stay together, please let us know. We would really like to hear from you. It makes a great difference for them if they can stay together.
Because we are mentioning having enough space, it is a good opportunity to mention that having a spare bedroom is the first requirement made of potential foster parents. It is a condition that each looked after child has his or her own bedroom. When you are caring for a sibling group, younger siblings of the same gender may share a bedroom if there is enough room to comfortably accommodate two beds as well as a desk and a chest of drawers.
As well as space, there are a few other qualifications to consider that may surprise you. You can be single or married. You can rent or own your accommodation. You do not need formal qualifications but you should have certain experience which we cover in your training. You can be unemployed. We provide all the support, training, and specialist equipment you will need to care for a child. You will have a social worker available 24/7.
During the application process, we carry out checks on all adult members of your household over the age of 16 including birth children and lodgers. If you are a couple, we consider you partners in the fostering process. This means that both of you will need to have the necessary checks and training as part of your assessment.
Capstone is looking for individuals and couples who can care for young people with complex needs, parent and child, and challenging teenagers as well as sibling groups.
If you have ever thought about becoming a foster carer, Hackney needs you. If you have experience or are already a carer and interested in a transfer to Welcome, we are especially interested in hearing from you.
